Queer Sick Pay Fund (qSPF) is a nonprofit initiative that serves Queer community in the Greater Seattle Area. qSPF was founded by Betty Wetter and Drama Tops in 2024 and is Fiscally Sponsored by Velocity Dance Center.
qSPF has 2 main programs, Sick Pay Grants providing financial support to Queer contracted performers when they miss a gig due to illness or injury and Gender Affirming Care Grants offering financial support to trans people seeking gender affirming surgeries or procedures.
Mission: provide sick pay to Queer contracted performers, and provide grants to trans people for gender affirming surgeries and procedures in the Greater Seattle Area.
Vision: A world where Queer contracted performers don’t need to lose money because they are ill or injured, and every trans person can afford the gender affirming care they need.
Values: Queer performing artist stability, Queer health and safety, fair compensation, gender affirming care is life saving, and all trans people deserve to be able to afford the care they need.
Dreams: qSPF becomes so popular that we can increase grant amounts; other Queers in other cities recreate it. See our Starter Pack for information about starting your own sick pay fund!
Velocity Dance Center acts as qSPF’s fiscal sponsor. They take 8% of all donations to host the systems and administer the bookkeeping for the fund.
